“Approach Appeal Court for Redress” – APC Youths tell Candidates

Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State have called on their candidates who filed petitions at the Justice Jennifer Ijohor’s led-panel to approach the Appeal Court to seek redress.

…say Ijohor’s led-panel corrupt, lopsided

Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State have called on their candidates who filed petitions at the Justice Jennifer Ijohor’s led-panel to approach the Appeal Court to seek redress.

They expressed disappointment at the rulings delivered in four of the cases involving their candidates and those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the National/State Houses of Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Arising from their state youth caucus meeting on Tuesday, September 10, the APC youths in a communique read by the State Youth Leader, Mr Stephen Ntokekpo, observed that the Tribunal II, headed by Justice Jennifer Ijohor was “lopsided, biased and inconsequential”, having been “carefully crafted by the PDP to handcuff justice”.

They rejected Ijihor’s judgements, saying they were functions of “a deep-rooted hatred against the APC family” adding that the injustice was a bold attempt to render President Buhari’s fight against corruption counter-productive.

“Youths of All Progressives Congress APC, Akwa Ibom State, reject in totality the skewed judgements delivered by Justice Jenifer Ijohor. Her marriage to the current Secretary to the government of Benue State, Prof. Ijohor (SAN) who is also a PDP stalwart has rendered the four judgements delivered so far by her led-tribunal incredible.

“That the recent biased judgements delivered by the Justice Ijohor led-panel are unacceptable to Akwa Ibom APC Youths as they reflect injustice to our people.

“As we speak, PDP members are boasting that there is no way Justice Ijohor would have resisted such volume of monetary inducement by the PDP and the Governor of Akwa Ibom State”, the Youth Leader said.

Drawing the attention of the Nigerian Judicial Council (NJC), Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), President of the Court of Appeal and other stakeholders in the Judiciary, they prayed the third arm of government to “rise to their responsibility and put a check on Judges in the likes of Jennifer Ijohor as their actions and collaborations with the PDP led-government in Akwa Ibom State could dent the image of the hallowed institution which is the last hope of the common man”.

Calling on President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Chairman of the APC, Mr Adams Oshiomhole and other stakeholders of the party not sit back to watch the injustice done again on the APC family, they “insisted on a sound and credibly delivered judgement, based on unassailable evidence presented before the Panels”.

It would be recalled that the APC had alarmed of Justice Jenifer Ijohor’s connivance and intimacy with the PDP, herself being a Justice whose husband is the current Secretary to the Government of Benue State, and a situation the party believed could compel her “dancing to the tune of justice played by the PDP.”

They reminded the public that the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, whose husband is the current Senator under the APC platform had stepped down and reclused herself from sitting over presidential petition tribunal, following accusations by the PDP that her marital ties would influence her decision as the head of the panel.

They wondered why the situation was different in Justice Ijohor’s case where “her judgments were predicated solely on ill-will and outraged anger”.
