With the conventional notion that, “Power” and officialdom attract envy, jealously, hatred and criticism, government Image Managers and Public Relations Managers, must work hard enough to earn their employers, Principals and organisations friends and goodwill.
Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong stated this on Tuesday 2nd February, 2021, at the e-library, IBB Way, Uyo, while declaring open a 3-day NIPR Workshop – tagged -“Uyo 2021”.
Comrade Ini Ememobong said, it is incumbent upon PR managers to make their Principals, Employers and Government to look good in the eyes of the public while on course of their responsibility of delivering service and good governance to the governed and members of their immediate publics respectively.
He expressed appreciation to the State NIPR for organizing the programme which according to the State Information helmsman, will enhance the knowledge on image managing among PR managers in state for the overall improvement of PR processes and function in organisations in the state.
While welcoming participants and Resource Persons to the workshop, the State Chairman of NIPR, Mr. Nsemeke Udoakpan, expressed appreciation to the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for the intervention work at the e-library which has given the edifice a congenial ambience for the workshop and thanked the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong for enhancing participation at the workshop through sponsorship of Directors and Information Officers from the Ministry of Information and Strategy and other government establishments.
The 3 days Uyo 2021 Workshop titled, “International Speech Writing & Protocol Workshop” focuses on such areas as: Reputation Management by Dr. Nsikanabasi Nkana, Head of Department of Communications Arts, University of Uyo; Effective Speech Writing in Image and Reputation Management equation by Pastor Anietie Ukpe, the DG of AKBC as well as Modern Tactics in Protocol Management and Reputation Building in the 21st Century by Mr. Victor Sibeko, who will be presenting through zoom from South Africa, among others.
Present at the workshop were: members of the state Executive of the state NIPR, including the Vice chairman, Mr. Joseph Eton, Media Aide to the Governor, Mr. Aniefiok Macauley, the Director, Public Relations in the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mrs. Grace Akpan and the Director of Strategy, Mr. Joseph Etem among others.
