Uyo Capital City Boss Expresses Readiness to Strengthen Synergy with NITP

The Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Otuekong Enobong Uwah has reaffirmed commitment to strengthen collaboration and partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners to enhance Town Planning development in the capital city.
Otuekong Uwah stated this when the Chairman and the Executive members of the NITP paid him a courtesy visit in the conference room of the Agency.
Welcoming the Association to the permanent Secretariat of the Agency, Uwah urged the Association to entrench professionalism in their practice in line with the ethics of the profession.
He pledged the readiness of the Authority to support and partner the association and other related professional bodies with a view to addressing the current realities facing the housing and urban development in the capital city and the State.
Noting Uyo as one of the fast growing capital cities in Nigeria, Uwah called for concerted efforts in tackling and maintaining development control standards to bring sanity to the town planning development in the State.
He maintained that the task of controlling development in the capital city by the UCCDA is for the good of all and not to witch-hunt anybody, adding that the Authority as a development control Agency is committed to ensuring that the ongoing review on building regulations, among other measures will be achieved in a bid to addressing most of the challenges facing the Town Planning and development control in the capital city.
Earlier, the Chairman of the State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, TPL (Dr.) Emmanuel Etuk lauded Otuekong Uwah for demonstrating his leadership capacity in repositioning the Agency to achieve her mandate.
He commended Uwah for the effort in providing a befitting office accommodation to enhance service delivery.
TPL Etuk said the essence of the visit was to seek stronger collaboration and partnership towards enhancing greater impacts in town planning and development control in the Capital City and by extension, the Akwa Ibom State.
He expressed confidence in the Uwa’s led Administration of the UCCDA to tackle the challenges bedeviling the physical planning and development control of the capital city.
