Bandits Set Katsina Village Ablaze, Kill One, Injure Three

Unknown bandits who attacked Wagini Village in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Friday, May 10, have forced residents to flee the area after setting it ablaze.

On Friday, May, 10, Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, was awarded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor’s forum in a ceremony organized by the Governors in his honour, in Abuja.

Unknown bandits who attacked Wagini Village in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Friday, May 10, have forced residents to flee the area after setting it ablaze.

Confirming the incident, the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Gambo Isah, said that the bandits unleashed mayhem on the area on Friday, May 10, at about 11pm, killed one Saidu Garba, and injured three others.

They also lighted up some thatched huts inside Batsari market.

“The command has commenced an investigation into the attack and efforts are ongoing to ascertain whether there was any connection between the attack and the killing of a suspected informant of the criminals by members of the vigilante group in Batsari”, he said.

An eyewitness disclosed that the incident was related to a reprisal attack following the killing of a suspected bandit by some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF).

However, the Police spokesman assured the people of fishing for the culprits and bringing them to book.
