Barely few hours after the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and second term candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Udom Emmanuel, presented his manifesto at the Uyo Township Stadium, over fifty groups have mobilized for a protest at the government house.
The groups numbering over fifty said the money allotted to them to demobilise their members by the Divine Mandate Campaign Organization, has not been given to them.
Speaking to Platinum NG, one of the group heads at the Divine Mandate office, who pleaded anonymity said, “it is so frustrating, after everything we went through today. The people you are seeing in this office are different group heads, we were told to come here and get money for our groups, but unfortunately, those responsible for that are not here, neither do they take their calls.”
“Our members are waiting at the stadium, we were told to come with a minimum of four buses, my group came with eleven buses, carrying twenty persons each. The bus was hired at N15,000, multiply that by 12, you know how much my group alone have spent,” he lamented.
Meanwhile, the coordinators have mobilized themselves for a protest at the government house this evening, to make their position known to the governor.
Those alleged to be responsible for the mobilisation of the event are: the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen and his sports counterpart, Mr. Monday Uko.
All effort to reach them at the time of this report proved abortive.
