INEC Releases Timeline for Kogi, Bayelsa Governorship Elections

The timelines for the November 16, 2019 governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states have been released.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made this known on Monday, July 8, through its Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood, during the presentation of certificates of return to winners of election in Zamfara state.

He noted that the Commission has as well released timelines for party primary election in both states.

“The primaries for both states will start on August 18, 2019, through September 5, 2019”, he said.

Mahmood charged the concerned parties to ensure transparency and orderliness in the conduct of the primaries and nomination of candidate, adding that the entire activity should be carried out in accordance with the provision of the Electoral Act, as well as INEC’s regulations and guidelines.

He also announced that 64 certificates of return which were formerly withdrawn have been issued to persons declared winners by courts of law.
