UN President expected in Nigeria on Monday

The President of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Ms. María Espinosa, is expected in Nigeria on Monday, May, 6, to discuss with President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, on how to better bilateral relations between Nigeria and the (UN).

According to the spokesperson for the UN information Centre, Mr. Oluseyi Soremekun, the UN President will crave the understanding of Nigeria on multilateralism and the UN, as well as the need for women and youth empowerment which are the UN’s priorities.

The spokesman who disclosed this on Sunday, May 5, in Lagos, said that her coming will also engender talks on how to raise further “international awareness on the Lake Chad Basin and efforts of Nigeria to promote sustainable development, peace and security in the region among others”.

 Soremekun, in an insight on what the interactive session would be like noted that “She will also engage with students and youths on the theme: Responding to Global Challenges in a fast-Changing World: The Case for Strengthening Multilateralism”, while the women will be served with: `The Role of Women in the Promotion of Multilateralism’.
