The people of Esit Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, under the aegis of Esit Eket Frontline Development Forum, have called on Governor Udom Emmanuel to avail them the slot of Commissioner in his second term cabinet.
The group made the call in Eket at the weekend, through its Welfare Committee Chairman, Engr. OtoAbasi Ntiah.
While congratulating the Governor on his second term victory, and expressing optimism that the next four years would witness greater landmarks of industrialization in the state, Engr. Ntiah made a case for the completion of unfinished projects in the area, such as the Akwa Palm industry.
He also requested the establishment of a well-equipped ICT Centre, Modern Oil/Gas Training Center as well as the siting of commercial banks in the area, adding that the area is development-friendly and has more than enough land mass and conducive environment for establishment of the institutions.
Esit Eket Frontline Development Forum also urged the Governor to see to the establishment of Akwa Ibom State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (AKOPADEC) before the expiration of his four-year tenure, saying the Commission would be equipped with the responsibility of developing the core oil producing areas in the State.
Maintaining that the area is endowed with scholars and professionals in virtually all walks of life, the group called on the State Governor to include an indigene of Esit Eket in his Executive cabinet.
They acknowledged the Governor for being sensitive to the needs of the area, while expressing optimism that this would not be an exception.
