The Nigerian Territorial Commander of The Salvation Army, Colonel Victor Leslie has charged the newly commissioned divisional envoys to make friends and raise funds for the work of God in the region and country.
The number one Salvationist in the country gave the charge while admonishing new envoys after their commissioning and decorations on Sunday, October 4, 2020, as part of activities to mark the installation of the new Divisional Commander and Director for Women Ministries, for the recently created Akwa Ibom Central Division (covering churches in Etinan and environ).
Colonel Leslie noted that people have several callings from the days of the Bible, as Christ’s servants, that of the envoys is mainly evangelism, to win souls and generate resources for the kingdom’s work.
Also speaking, his wife, Colonel Rose-Marie Leslie (Mma Mbakara) in her speech in Ibibio, commended the newly installed Majors Robert and Aniefiok Robert, she called on the congregation to join hands with the church heads to move the ministry to an enviable height. Mma Mbakara added that indeed, Akwa Ibom feels like home, and it is Akwa Ibom Central Division in particular that has made it so.
The Territorial leaders were supported by the Territorial Secretary for Programmes, Lt. Colonel Ezekiel W. Akpan, who is coincidentally a bosom friend of Mr Ekere Nelson.
In their separate statements, the recipients of the highest honour in the Salvation Army, interestingly, both Economists, Assistant Corps Sergeant Major Ekere Nelson and Otuekong Essien Abel Essien thanked the church for finding them worthy of such honour.
The ancient town of Etinan played host to a large congregation of Salvationists from across the nation, as the envoys were joined by family and friends from all walks of life to grace the August occasion in October.
