… Charges Staff on Greater Commitment, Speed, to meet timelines

The newly sworn-in Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno has assumed duty with a familiarization visit to the ministry’s staff and facilities.

The Commissioner who was conducted round the ministry by the Permanent Secretary, Barr Christopher Joseph Udo, thanked the staff for holding forth and helping the State Government in its mandate to serve the people.

He noted that his duty is to coordinate the activities of the ministry, and work in synergy with the staff members to reposition the Ministry for quick service delivery to members of the public.

Pastor Umo Eno, an accomplished Entrepreneur, and turnaround management consultant with over 2000 employees, noted that the Ministry of Lands is very strategic in the development of any society, as according to him; “every development effort involves land.”

In his words; “I want to thank His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel for the privilege he has given to us to serve and to be part of his completion agenda. My mission is to coordinate what every body does, by working with the Permanent Secretary and all of us in a way that we can render very quick, smart service to the state.

“One of the things that I believe will help us is to be determined to increase our speed level and ensure that we achieve things with minimal delay, meet deadlines and timelines.

“Coming from the private sector, I am glad I have this opportunity to help the private sector. The Governor talked about stimulating the economy yesterday; we cannot stimulate the economy in the private sector by handing money to people or throwing money on the street for people to work. Most times what hinders the private sector is their land documents. The delay in signing C of O and processing it. This is one area that we can work together, expedite action, set timelines to streamline the processes and ensure ease of doing business in the State,” he added.

While charging the staff to increase their commitment and speed, he appealed for cooperation from all staff members to ensure success in their mandate.

For the record, until his appointment as Commissioner, Pastor Umo Eno was the Executive Director, Directorate of Agricultural Investments, AKICORP having relinquished his position as the Executive Governor/CEO of Royalty Group immediately after he was appointed.

Responding on behalf of the staff, the Permanent Secretary, Barr Christopher welcomed Pastor Umo Eno and pledged total support, willingness and readiness to move,at the pace that will be set by the Commissioner.

He thanked the Commissioner for reporting to duty the morning after inauguration, without delay, and prayed for wisdom and God’s guidance to enable him succeed on his mandate.
