Education Ministry Lauds AKSU Mgmt on Infrastructural Development

The Monitoring team from Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja met with the Management of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) on Tuesday, February 18, to assess its performance and compliance with policies, processes and procedures of the Ministry.

The meeting which was held at the Senate Chamber of the school’s main campus in Ikot Akpaden had Mrs. Elizabeth Adeoye, Director, Policy Coordination and Management of the Education Ministry as leader of the monitoring team.

Adeoye who noted that AKSU has performed commendably well under the current administration led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eno James Ibanga, maintained that “Akwa Ibom State University presently ranks very high in the areas of infrastructural and manpower development as well as expansion of student base”. She encouraged the management to maintain the high standard that has already been set.

Responding, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Idongesit O. Isaac who represented the Vice-Chancellor said it was a good development to receive such positive feedback from the monitoring team.

He expressed delight at the assessment and promised that the University Management will continue to work in the interest of students and staff to ensure that the Institution keeps in line with requirements of the Ministry and international best practices.

Thereafter, the team embarked on inspection of Federal Government funded projects through TETfund and Needs Assessment in the Main Campus, facility tour of Faculty of Biological Sciences, Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies and School of Postgraduate Studies.

In attendance were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Umoren E. Umoren; the Registrar, Mr. John E. Udo; the Bursar, Mr. Aniefiok G. Williams; the University Librarian, Prof. (Mrs.) Eno J. Ottong.

Others present included: the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Jarlath Umoh; Dean, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Prof. (Mrs.) Veronica J. Umoh; Director, Academic Planning, Prof. Udo J. Ibok; Ag. Director, Works and Maintenance, Engr. Ime E. Asuquo; Ag. Director, Physical Planning, Architect Nelson Essienette; Deputy Registrar, Directorate of General Administration (Office of the Registrar), Mr. Inemesit Akpan; Head, Directorate of Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. Akaninyene Ibanga; Mr. Maurice J. Udoh, Procurement Officer; support staff from the Directorates of General Administration, and Information, Public Relations and Protocol.
