The Member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Otobong Bob on Tuesday, December 3, spoke in firm support of the bill to upgrade Akwa Ibom State School of Science and Technology to college.
The bill for a law to establish the Akwa Ibom State College of Science and Technology was brought to floor of the House by the member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, Hon. Godwin Ekpo.
The Nsit Ubium Spokesman pointed out that the world has moved into an age where it is technology driven and only those who are technologically inclined can make the best out of the world.
Hence, he noted, that with the bill passed into law, Akwa Ibom Children will be in the forefront of technological development in the country.
Bob stated this at the State House of Assembly during plenary.
The House Member who recalled that the House had earlier called on companies operating in the State to recruit indigenes, further said that with the bill passed into law, companies in the State will have a large reservoir of qualified manpower to draw from.
“Today, the world is technology driven. If the bill is passed, our children will be in the forefront of technological development in the country”, he said.
“More than this, this House recently called on companies operating in the state to employ indigenes of the state. If this bill is passed and assented into law such companies will have a large reservoir of qualified manpower to draw from”, he added.
It would be recalled that Bob who has since taken active steps to contribute to the cardinal role of the 7th Assembly which is to make laws that will sprout developments in every nook and cranny of the State as well as reposition the State, sponsored a bill for a law to establish Akwa Ibom State Security Trust Fund.
