The Kogi State Assistant Director of Public Relations for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr Adedapo Tayo, has confirmed the death of the State Coordinator, Mrs. Oludolapo Ahile.
Tayo related that the deceased died in a ghastly motor accident on her way to Tiv land in Benue for the burial/funeral of her father in-law on Thursday, May 16, along the Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia highway, in Nasarawa State.
Platinum.ng gathered that “her vehicle somersaulted twice and veered into the bush”. The occupants which included the deceased, her husband and two other occupants were said to have been rushed to the hospital where she died on Friday, May 17.
“Her husband, Mr. Michael Ahile, the driver and the other persons survived the crash but were injured”, Tayo said.
In his brief to newsmen, Tayo disclosed that the deceased’s husband who was severely injured among the three survivors was moved to a Specialist Hospital in Abuja for adequate medical care.
He described the late Coordinator as a peaceful woman who contributed immensely to the growth of the NYSC in Kogi State and recalled her cordiality with staff of the scheme, adding that she will be missed by all.
“She initiated the ongoing construction of NYSC Multipurpose Hall project that is about to be completed, pressed on the state government for the renovation of the NYSC camp, and has been a motivator to corps members especially on skills acquisition and general counseling”, Tayo lamented.
The PR man thanked the National Directorate of the NYSC for responding swiftly to the incident, and appreciated the State Governor, Yahaya Bello, for sending delegates to sympathize with the scheme over their grief.
