The Katsina State government has placed a death sentence on anyone subsequently found guilty of kidnap or cattle rustling in the State.
The same goes for rape which attracts life imprisonment to the culprit, as well as a fine and compensation to be paid to the victim.
The State Governor, Governor Aminu Masari signed these into law on Friday, May 24, following his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.
Platinum.ng had reported the killing of 26 people in three communities of the state – Dan Musa, Faskari and Batsari local government areas, on Thursday, 23, as well as previous related crimes allegedly perpetrated by cattle rustlers in the area, leading to the death and abduction of scores of people in recent times.
Consequently, the President had called on the service Chiefs to investigate the Thursday killings and report back their findings to him, adding that they should put in place preventive measures to forestall future occurrence.
