The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, on Tuesday, May 4, swore-in the new Head of State, Elder Effiong Edem Essien, and other newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service.
The Governor who administered the oath of office to the appointees at the Government House Banquet Hall, congratulated and urged them to bring to bare their prowess in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Announcing that more permanent secretaries would be appointed soon, Mr. Emmanuel warned politicians engaging in lobbying for candidates to desist from such, adding that it could lead to the disqualification of such candidate.
He assured that he would be fair and even in the selection deserving appointees, while he asked stakeholders and political leaders not to pressurize him unnecessarily for political appointments.
He again stressed that most members of the immediate past Executive Council would be maintained due to the projects he needs to complete under their supervision.
The Governor however lamented the absence of qualified hands in some Local Governments Areas, which he said, could result in the marginalization of such places.
