The Finance and Appropriations Committee of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the State to improve their performances in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh made the charge on Thursday, May 10, while assessing the MDAs on their First Quarter performances at the Assembly Complex, Uyo.
Hon. Akpanusoh said Ministries saddled with responsibilities should not do so at the detriment of the government but should perform their duties in line with the rules and regulations.

This he said, will help the legislative arm of government to check if the legal document is being expended in accordance with the Appropriation bill when appraisal and implementation of budget is carried out.
Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh commended the MDAs who have appeared before the committee and sued for synergy and collaboration between the government and MDAs, to block leakages in governance, while extending the deadline for the first quarter appraisal to Monday, May 20 to accommodate some MDAs who could not turn up.
Appearing before the Committee on Finance and Appropriations were Office of the Governor led by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Nathaniel Adiakpan and the Chinese Civil Engineering Constitution Company (CCECC) led by its Public Relations Officer, Lady Veronica Akpan.
