The Federal Government has announced the low-key celebration of Nigeria’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, explained that the reason for this was not unconnected to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, September 24 in Abuja, Mohammed said that low-key celebrations will last for one year and end on September 31, 2021, featuring sequential events.

“This doesn’t mean there will be daily activities between now and September 31 but there will be staggered events within the one-year period to commemorate Nigeria’s diamond jubilee anniversary”, he said.

Meanwhile, the theme of this year’s celebration is Togetherness. The logo and theme which will be used in celebrating the Diamond Jubilee was unveiled last week by President Muhammadu Buhari during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
