The European Union Election Observation Mission has submitted its report on its observations of the just concluded 2019 general elections in Nigeria.
In the report are 30 recommendations made to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the EU observers for the improvement of subsequent elections in the country.
The foreign observers, among other things, stressed on the need for improvement in the electoral process to help citizens have “faith in the system”.
On its official Twitter handle, the group wrote: @EUinNigeria. “The #EU Election Observation Mission has released its final report on Nigeria’s 2019 elections, stressing an urgent need to improve the electoral process and restore faith in the system. The report contains 30 recommendations for improved future elections”.
Receiving the report on Friday, June 15, Chairman of INEC, Mr Mahmoud Yakubu, assured that the group’s recommendations would be acted upon.
He also thanked them for being instrumental in Nigeria’s democratic progression since 1999.
