The Commissioner for Information, Sir Charles Udoh has said that the ongoing on-the -spot assessment tour of projects embarked upon by the State Government Information Management Team, is to put the Government permanently on the limelight.

Sir Charles Udoh stated this in Uyo on Tuesday, July 21, while reacting to the gains of the newly introduced tour of projects undertaken by Governor Udom Emmanuel within the past 5 years of his administration.

The State Information helmsman noted that in addition to getting the reactions of indigenes and citizens of the State on the projects sited in different localities and environs, the tour would help put the Government permanently in the limelight.

He said the on-the-spot assessment tour takes him and the Information Management Team to people’s residences as they interact and listen to the people’s opinion and reservations about the different projects provided to them by government.

Udoh also noted that the tour has copiously created awareness on Projects people hitherto felt were only on pages of the paper, adding that the visits were usually beamed live on the electronic and online media to clear doubts.

Reiterating that the tour has heightened publicity and awareness on the life-touching projects and achievements of Governor Udom Emmanuel since assumption of office, Sir Udoh recalled that within the past 5 years, Governor Emmanuel has recorded massive landmarks across the sectors of the State economy such as Aviation, Industrialization, Entrepreneurial development, Agriculture, Healthcare, Security, Education, Tourism, Human Capital Development and Sports, among others.

On the ongoing Permanent terminal building under construction at the Victor Attah International Airport, the Information Boss said that the Information Management Team had visited the project, adding that the legacy facility will place Akwa Ibom on the global map with the traffic it will attract because of the Cargo handling at the terminal building and its Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) component.

He emphasized that all of the projects undertaken by the Governor are geared at generating job opportunities for the teeming youths of the State directly and indirectly to alleviate poverty amongst the people.

Intimating that the State Government Information Management comprises of all Media Aides of the Governor and Directors of the Ministry of Information, Sir Udoh said the on-the-spot assessment tour of government projects by the team continues as part of measures towards heightening publicity on the giant strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
