“Governor Udom Emmanuel has Vindicated us” – Ikot Ekpene Council Boss

The Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. Unyime Etim, has expressed delight at the progress of work on the Uyo/Ikot-Ekpene dual carriageway, maintaining that, Governor Udom Emmanuel has vindicated all those who remained steadfast to vote massively for him in the last Governorship election.

Hon. Etim who led a considerable number of youths of the area to receive the officials of the Ministry of Works who came to supervise the demolition of structures on the right of way of the ongoing construction of the 25Km Uyo-Ikot Ekpene Highway, hinted that the opposition in Ikot Ekpene were campaigning against the governor’s reelection by spreading propaganda that, he plans to abandon the road once he is re-elected.

The Council boss who was interacting with newsmen lauded Governor Emmanuel, whom he described as a focused, committed and patriotic leader for disappointing the devices of the detractors by doing what is best for the development of all parts of the state.

He thanked compensated property owners and youths of Ikot Ekpene for cooperating with Government officials and the contractors handling the project without obstructions to ensure the project is speedily completed. He observed that, the positive attitude of his people was a manifest demonstration of their total support for the governor and appreciation of the completion agenda which is playing out on the Uyo – Ikot Ekpene Road.

On his part, the Director, Civil Engineering Directorate, Ministry of Works, Engr Akaninyene Henry, who led the team of Ministry officials to oversee the demolition exercise which has stretched to the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, said, Governor Emmanuel is eager to get the job done and completed. He sued for continued cooperation from all stakeholders to enable the achievement of the development objective.
