He appealed to well meaning Nigerians and other relevant bodies to find succour to the maimed soldiers, urging all to donate generously in alleviating the sufferings of their families.

“The problem we have in our hands mostly is looking after the widows and families of the departed veterans. The husbands are no more and there is nothing that can provide them means of livelihood like the emoluments their departed husbands used to come home with.

“How do we give them an enduring sustenance outside providing them transport money and feeding them today. What happens to these unfortunate ones after today.

“This is a challenge to all of us here present to show compassion and donate generously to ameliorate their sufferings.

“The Legion is authorized to appeal to good spirited

Nigerians, corporate bodies, indigenes of the State and Local Governments to rise and find succour to the permanently maimed, widows and families of these Heroes.”

The event which also featured presentation of the Emblem Appeal and Almanac, Eniang said “the Emblem Appeal Launch is an avenue for you to exercise your generosity and show sympathy. There is no need over-emphasizing the predicaments these people go through! It can never be the same.

“The Almanac we are launching today is our little way of marking and creating a memory of the beginning of yet another decade God has in His infinite mercies, made us to

witness,” he concluded.
