The apex Igbo socio-cultural group – Ohanaeze Ndigbo – has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign from office for attending the Organization for Islamic affairs Congress (OIC) in Saudi Arabia.

The group stated this on Friday, June 1, through its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chucks Ibegbu, who accused the President of being a religious fanatic.

Mr. Ibegbu posited that the President should be made to explain why he had to leave for the conference immediately after his inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, May 29.

“Why immediate attendance of Organisation of Islamic Countries, OIC, meeting in Saudi Arabia a day after his swearing in?”, he questioned.

“This is a secular country and a leader that wants to be a mullah or fanatic is free to resign rather than plunge us into a religious crisis”, he said.
