The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has assured the State Command of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) of its support and collaboration in combating crime and insecurity in the state.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, made this known on Tuesday, September 15, when he, alongside the leadership of the House, received CP Amiengheme Inobeme Andrew, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police and his team at the Assembly Complex.
He informed the new Commissioner of Police of the many people-oriented legislations put in place by the State Assembly for a smooth governance and the enhancement of protection of lives and properties.
Rt. Hon. Bassey said the Seventh Assembly will continue to support the Nigeria Police through legislative interventions for the progress and development of Akwa Ibom State.
The Commissioner of Police who took time to brief the House leadership on security matters and modalities to be adopted by his team for better policing of the state, commended the Speaker for the honour done him and assured the House of close partnership.
CP Andrew, a former Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Calabar Zonal Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (ZCIID) and Bayelsa Department of Operations, said, though security is everybody’s responsibility, the Command will strive to ensure Akwa Ibom remains the most peaceful state in Nigeria.
