The Akwa Ibom State Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien has urged Public Servants to key into the Agriculture revolution of Governor Udom Emmanuel for food sufficiency in the state.
The Head of Civil Service gave the charge on Saturday, August 10, at the end of the August edition of “Jogging to Serve Better” exercise organized by his office for Public Servants in the state government employ.
Elder Effiong Essien reiterated that Governor Udom Emmanuel places priority on Agriculture to ensure food security and sufficiency and therefore implored public Servants to plant kitchen gardens and farms in around their homes.
He noted that with such handy farms and gardens, public servants will reduce the burden on their daily purchases of farm produce like vegetables and plantains, among other common crops.
Essien advised them to take advantage of the improved seedlings provided by government to members of the public such as plantain suckers adding that he will embark on tour of farms of Permanent Secretaries after his ongoing farmiliarization tour of MDAs in the state.
The Head of Civil Service used the occasion to harp on cleanliness in government offices and their surroundings by public Servants, for a congenial working environment as well as the need to keep fit by coming out for the monthly jogging exercise.
Highlight of the jogging exercise attended by Permanent Secretaries in the state was a special session conducted by the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien.
