…As LG Commissioner Pays Tribute to Late Chairman State Council of Chiefs
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has commended the leaders and people of Ini Local Government Area for their peaceful nature over the years, and urged them to maintain the tempo as such gestures will attract more development to the area.
The state Governor gave the commendation, on Saturday, September 14, during a condolence visit to the family of late Paramount Ruler of Ini and Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, HRM Edidem Udo Effiong Akpan JP at his palace in Anana mong, Itu Mbonuso.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Obong Udo Ekpenyong, the state Governor commended the legacies of the late monarch, describing him as a man of letters who’s demise would be greatly missed by not only his kinsmen but the state in general.
“The late Paramount Ruler and Chairman, State Council of Chiefs was a highly educated man, cerebral and public spirited. He was a great farmer, Journalist, Writer, Poet and highly rated in the society. He was a self-made man who should be celebrated even in death. His well of wisdom and advise which led to the growth of the traditional institution and peace in the state will be greatly missed by the state and even the Governor himself. His demise is a great lost and it’s my prayers that God grant his soul eternal repose in the bossom of Abraham. Amen”, the Hon. Commissioner recounted.
While urging the bereaved family and Ini people to uphold the rich legacies of the renowned monarch, the commissioner pledged the resolve of the state government towards ensuring the wellbeing of the family as well as step up investment in the area, amongst existing ones.
Responding, the INI LG Chairman, Hon. Israel Adaisin thanked the Governor and the Hon. Commissioner for their support and show of love for the bereaved family, especially in their moment of grief.
He however advocated for the creation of two more clans to the local government, to accommodate 10 gazetted villages of the area, as well as the speeding up of the ongoing road construction in the area.
The Ini Assemblyman and AKHA Chief whip, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Bassey and the Chancellor, Ibom Patriots, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen in their separate remarks also paid glowing tributes to the late Paramount Ruler and expressed satisfaction with the Governor for the honor done the family, via the condolence visit.
Prince Rufus, the late monarch’s son, while delivering a vote of thanks, expressed the heartfelt satisfaction to the state government for its show of love since the demise of their late Father and particularly for the condolence visit, which, according him, has set the tone for what will be a smooth conduct of the funeral.
He prayed for journey mercies to the Hon. Commissioner and his entourage.
A minute silence was observed in honor of the departed monarch.
The Hon. commissioner was accompanied by the permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Nsudo Nsudo, the Secretary, Traditional Rulers Council, Barr Umontuen, Directors, staff and personal Aides.
