To further strengthen her commitment to the sustainance of qualitative education across the State, the Akwa Ibom State Government through the Ministry of Education has taken over Union Secondary School, Ibiaku in Ibiono Ibom LGA.

The meeting which took place in the office of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Prof. Nse Essien earlier today witnessed the official signing of the partnership agreement between the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria and the Government of Akwa Ibom State represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Education.

In his statement, the Education Boss
described the take over as long overdue considering the state of the renowned Institution while promising the prompt intervention of Government to salvage the school.

The Moderator, Akwa Synod of the Presbyterian church, Rev. Obong N. Obong thanked the State Government for her interest in the affairs of the school while imploring her to maintain the christian virtues for which the Institution was known for and established.

Elder Mrs. Rita B Ekanem, Trustee of the General Assembly signed on behalf of the church while the Honourable Commissioner, Prof. Nse Essien signed on behalf of the State Government.

The meeting also had in attendance Rev. Etuk N. Okon, Clerk of Synod, Elder Emmanuel Ekanem, Secretary, Education Committee of the General Assembly, Director of Legal Services in the Ministry, Barr. (Dr) Kingsley Ekwere and the Director of Quality Assurance Services in the Ministry, Mrs. Roselyn Anthony Mfon.
