The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Sir Charles Udoh has won the 2019 Best Public Service Information Manager Award in Nigeria.

The award was presented to the Information Commissioner on Friday November 29, 2019, at the Conference Hall of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ikeja, Lagos during the Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN) 2019 Annual Brands and Marketing Conference.

Speaking on behalf of the organizers of the Award ceremony, the National Chairman of BJAN, Princewill Ekwujuru said, Sir Charles Udoh was selected for the award in recognition of his information management strides from Governor Udom Emmanuel’s first term up until the 2nd.

According to Ekwujuru “The communication strategy used in marketing the unique selling proposition of Akwa Ibom to the outside world are unparalleled in the history of government information management in Nigeria.”

In his response, Sir Charles Udoh appreciated the association for recognizing his modest contributions to the building of Akwa Ibom state.

“It has been a period of using the most effective strategies and methods available to project the activities of our highly enterprising Governor and his team”, Sir Udoh said.

He dedicated the award to God and expressed deep gratitude to the state Governor for giving him the opportunity to serve.

He also dedicated the award to his wife, Lady Regina Charles Udoh, for keeping the homefront intact, as well as his children, family and friends for their love and support.

The 7th Annual Brands and Marketing Conference attracted a number of government officials, corporate chieftains, marketing practitioners as well as top editors and other senior media players in the digital, print and electronic media.

The theme of the conference: “Survival Amidst Harsh Economy: Inside Stories of Top Brands”, was structured to collate, analyse and aggregate thoughts, ideas, knowledge and propositions that will help in positioning businesses amidst economic challenges.

The Conference had Steve Babaeko, Chief Executive Officer, X3M Ideas as its Lead Speaker and other Resource Persons including: Ebong Bassey, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Akwa Savings and Loans Ltd; Soromidayo George, Director, Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Business, Unilever Nigeria and Tokunbo George-Taylor, Managing Director, Hill & Knowlton Strategies.

Others were: Atimomo Idiare, Co-Founder/COO, Up in the Sky; Odion Aleobua, Chief Executive Officer, Motion Communications; and Tunde Kara, Managing Director, Red Media Africa.
