The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, has urged Oro youths to embrace dialogue as a veritable strategy in negotiating for their demands for a harmonious and peaceful coexistence.
Comrade Ini Ememobong stated this on Thursday, October 15, 2020, while attending the Oro Youth Summit 2020 at the Oron Civic centre.
The Information Boss who represented the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel at the occasion advised the Oro youths to refrain from the militancy and cry of marginalization posture to that of negotiation with other ethnic groups, based on similarities and not differences, reiterating that “all of us are first and foremost, Akwa Ibom persons, with a common goal, before whichever extraction comes into focus”.
Comrade Ememobong who spoke on the theme of this year’s Summit, “Identifying the Missing Link”, asserted that Oro Youths have to re-focus by changing the confrontational disposition of engagement with government for their demands to a civil dialogic collaboration with the older generations.
The Information Commissioner reiterated that the essence of proper posturing and positioning through dialogue is to enhance Strategic taking-over of power and selection of leaders into political positions, as “power has never been taken by accidental discharge but through Strategic processes”.
He charged Oro youths to prepare themselves intellectually for power take-over, devoid of the mercantile politics of “safe landing” as “safe landing” , he emphasized only leads to selling of one’s conscience and selection of wrong persons into political offices.
The State Information helmsman who lauded the youths for their foresight in organizing the summit, assured them that the communique arising from the summit will be delivered to the Governor and promised to create a platform for a dynamic discourse between the Oro youths and members of the State Executive Council as well as those of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly from Oro extraction.
