Ememobong Tasks Rotary Club on Partnership with Akwa Ibom Govt

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong has charged Rotary Club International to partner the State Government in the development processes of the state.

Comrade Ini Ememobong gave the charge on Monday, August 10, 2020, when he played host to the College of Past Presidents of Rotary Club International, Uyo Metropolis, in a courtesy call held at the Conference room of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Uyo.

The Information Boss said, as a corporate entity renowned in humanitarian services, the Rotary Club, Uyo Metropolis should gear up the tempo of its work for humanity by joining Governor Udom Emmanuel in his development processes for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

While acknowledging the laudable contributions of Rotary Club in the state so far, Comrade Ememobong urged the organization to heighten its services by joining Governor Udom Emmanuel to develop the state by taking up environmental protection exercises such as the beautification of some Strategic locations in Uyo, the Capital city.

He further urged the Club to erect the 4-Way Test Insignia of the Rotary Club visibly around government offices to inculcate the moral and ethical values embedded in it on the people as well as serve as their guiding principles, with such ideals as: Truth, Fairness, Equity as well as good brotherliness.

The State Spokesman, himself a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club International, pledged the Ministry’s partnership with the club and urged all Rotarians to avail themselves of the Dakkada Creed of Governor Udom Emmanuel as it contains futuristic values and ideals that set the people on the right path towards self-realization and development.

He expressed appreciation to the Rotary Club Uyo Metropolis for deeming it necessary to pay him a courtesy call and in identifying with him on his appointment, and urged the Club to seek out strategic means of attracting sponsorship from world bodies and Donor Agencies to aid in the development of the state and for their humanitarian services in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

President of the Rotary Club International, Uyo Metropolis, Rotarian Ubong Jeremiah who led the college of Past Presidents of the club on the courtesy call said the Rotarians were in the Ministry to congratulate one of theirs, Comrade Ini Ememobong on his appointment as the Commissioner for Information and thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for the confidence reposed in Comrade Ememobong by the appointment.

Rotarian Ubong Jeremiah who said Rotary Club had been in the fore of humanitarian services to the people said the club has not only successfully contributed to the eradication of Polio but has embarked on a lot of people-oriented projects such as the donation of blood bank to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH, Uyo, the provision of boreholes and fight against child and  maternal mortality.

He said Rotary Club focuses on seven areas in its services to the people and listed them to include: Community development, Protection of the environment, Child and maternal health, Peace and Conflict resolution, Decease prevention and control as well as Water and Sanitation, among others.

Highlight of the event attended by Officials of the club and Directors of the Ministry was the presentation of a Rotary bannerette by the President of the Club to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong.
