COVID-19 Lockdown: Unilag Alumni Gives Palliatives to Physically Challenged, Widows

The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the University of Lagos (Unilag) Alumni Association, on Wednesday, April 22, distributed food items to the vulnerable people in Akwa Ibom State.

Secretary of Unilag Alumni, Mr Ekanabasi Ubong, who delivered the items at the Banking Layout office of the Association, on behalf of the President of the Association, Senator Effiong Bob, stated that the donation was in contribution towards mitigating the inconveniences experienced in the lockdown exercise and to support in fighting against the dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Ekanabasi Ubong commended the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel on his consistent life of kindness and determination to give succour to the people as the world is battling the dreaded coronavirus.

He called on other well meaning members of the community particularly in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria by extension, to also reach out to the people.

He said the target is to touch 100 families, and urged the beneficiaries and all citizens of the state and Nigerians at large, to endeavour to maintain and observe all the precautionary measures and safety directives of the government.

He assured them that the lockdown would be lifted in no time prior to the maximum cooperation of the masses, and all will survive the pandemic.

The beneficiaries, mainly physically challenged, aged and widows drawn from four communities in Ibesikpo Asutan, thanked the leadership and members of Unilag Alumni for their magnanimity.

Items delivered included rice, beans, garri, Noddles and eggs .

In the entourage were the Assistant Secretary, Mr Otobong Matthew, and Welfare Secretary, Mr Nsikak Ukim.
