Uyo Ag Chairman Visits Vandalised Water Project Site in Ifa Ikot Okpon

The Acting Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Ukai Udeme Emmanuel paid a visit to the vandalized pipe borne water at Ifa Ikot Okpon in the Area on Friday, June 5.

Mr. Emmanuel who expressed dissatisfaction and displeasure at the insecurity posed by the abandoned project area to the community, condemned the vandalization, describing it as an obnoxious act which could mar the social and general interest of the community.

Adding that investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators of the vandalism to book, Hon. Emmanuel stated that his administration is bent on giving to people especially in rural communities, the required social amenities, as is supposedly the primary responsibility of government.

“My visit here today is to complement and fulfill on the campaign promises I took in 2017 for my people. When the Councilor of this ward, Hon. Christopher James drew my attention to this project, I thought it wise with immediate effect visit the site and access the facilities with the aid of providing modalities to remedy the situation.

“I have ordered the youth leader to commence work to revamp the vandalized pipe borne water which is very viable for Ifa Ikot Okpon group of villages and will be commissioned and handed over to the community in the next couple of days”. He said.

Speaking on behalf of the people, Etoi Ward 4 Councilor, Hon. Christopher James (JP) expressed satisfaction at the rapid response and intervention of the Ag Chairman, describing it as a welcome development which will chart a new course for people of the area.

The pipe borne water according to the Ag Chairman will be commissioned subsequently.
