Team Akwa Ibom at the ongoing 19th National sports festival in Abuja registered their presence on the medals Table with Two Medals from Para power lifting event.

The two medals are courtesy of Nsini Jonah 41kg female category and Emmanuel Sunday, 54 kgmales category .

Nsini Benjamin Jonah lift a personal best of 97 kg to clench the bronze medal while EmmanuelSunday, brighten the hope of team Akwa Ibom by coming second in the males 54 kgcategory after lifting a personal best of 130kg, while Imabong Daniel failed tomake it to the medal table after several attempts.

Our correspondent revealed that 2018 Commonwealth Champion, Roland Ezuruike Obumuneke wins a gold medal for Kano, Emmanuel Sunday, silver for Akwa Ibom and Abass Kazeem, bronze for Lagos State

Team Akwa Ibom power lifting registered a total of six power lifters with three of them competing today while the remaining three will hope to get gold medals for the land of promise state so as to continue in their quest for the top position.

Nsini Jonah, after lifting 91kg to win the bronze medal, told Ibom Chronicle Sports correspondent Theophilus Udo, in Abuja that she is disappointed with herselfwith her performance in the competition and blamed the poor outing to stressand fatigue of traveling for days on the road for the sports fiesta.

“I won bronze medal in my category today but I am not happy because that is not what I prepared for. In my past competitions both national and internationally I performed very well, even during training before this festival, I did well. I failed to win the gold medal because of the stress of long road travel from Akwa Ibom to Abuja through land for two days.To help persons with disability,next time we should travel early and rest before the kick off of the competition.
