COVID-19: Uniuyo Announces One-Month Shut-Down

Sequel to the directive issued by the federal government for the closure of secondary and tertiary institutions of learning across the federation, the University of Uyo has announced the immediate closure of business and academic activities for a period of one month.

A release signed and issued by the Registrar and Secretary to Senate, Aniedi Abasi Udofia, On Friday, March 20, has it that only staff on essential services will continue to perform their duties as scheduled.

It would be recalled that Federal Government had on Thursday, March 19, ordered the immediate closure of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools nationwide following the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country and as part of measures to contain the spread.

The directive was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr Sonny Echono.
