The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige had said on Wednesday, April 24, that doctors who feel they want to relocate abroad in search of greener pastures are free to do so because the country has abundant medical personnel.
Reacting, Senator Bruce recalled his rejected bill which sought to grant return rights to Nigerian African-Americans and Afro-Caribbeans who have the requisite educational and financial qualifications, to return home and help in building their fatherland.
He noted that Ngige’s comment was an indication that the country does not understand the challenge bedeviling her.
The Senator tweeted via his verified account @benmurraybruce
“Nigeria rejected my bill to allow a Right of Return to African Americans and Afro Caribbeans who have the requisite educational and financial qualifications. Now a minister says we have more than enough doctors and those who want can leave. Do we understand our challenges at all?”
