Why Lawan Withdrew Adedayo’s Appointment as Special Adviser

Senator Ahmed Lawan, President of the Senate has withdrawn the appointment of Festus Adedayo as his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, 48 hours after his appointment was announced.

The reversal of appointment was made known on Thursday, June 20, through Lawan’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mohammed Isa.

Adedayo’s appointment on Tuesday, June 18, is said to have been questioned by various publics on social media platforms on grounds that he campaigned against, and wrote articles against President Buhari while he was an aide to the immediate past Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

A letter authenticating Adedayo’s reversal of appointment reads: “The office of the President of the Senate has reviewed the appointment of Mr. Festus Adedayo as Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President of the Senate and decided to rescind its decision on the appointment, and wishes Mr. Adedayo the best in his future endeavours”.
