…IGP orders reversal of Police Shift Structure

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has been invited by the Senate to explain the reason for the incessant insecurity, violence, kidnappings and banditry across the country.

Platinum.ng gathered that the summon by the Senate is related to the killing of two humanitarian workers and the abduction of their three colleagues at the Kajuru Castle in Kaduna state on April 19.

Platinum.ng had earlier reported that one of the workers killed was one Miss Mooney, a Briton, during their get-together at the Kajuru Castle.

The Senate, in reaction to the incident had called upon security agencies to give special security cover to foreign workers and tourists.

Meanwhile, the IGP has ordered the immediate reversal of the Police shift duty structure.

The shift which was previously structured a 12-hour, 2-shifts system, has now been changed to 8-hours, 3-shifts daily.

An official tweet from the Police Force indicates that the IGP gave the order while declaring open the conference of heads of Police Medical Facilities at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, April 25.

The Tweet reads:

@PoliceNG

“IGP orders immediate reversal of the shift duty structure of the @PoliceNG which is currently a 12-hour, 2-shifts system to the traditional 8-hours, 3-shifts duty standard while declaring open the conference of heads of Police Medical Facilities at the Force HQ”.

This development, Platinum.ng gathered, is to reduce the stress and emotional pushes on men of the Force, resulting in the spate of extrajudicial actions and misuse of firearms.
