Senate Halts Passage of 2019 Budget

News

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, during the Wednesday, April 24 Plenary, announced the postponement of the 2019 budget till Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

Saraki related the reason for the postponement to the absence of the Chairman of the committee at the Wednesday plenary as well as to help committee members assess the budget details before passage.

He noted that not every member of the House has a printed copy of the budget, and asked the Clerk to ensure that the senators all had copies of the Bill ahead of passage on Tuesday, April 30.

“We don’t want to run into a problem where we pass it without details and our colleagues will start to comment” he said.
