Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Constituents Pass Votes of Confidence on Aniekan Umanah

On Saturday, July 13, the people of Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, met to pass a vote of confidence on their Federal Lawmaker, Hon. Aniekan Umanah at a Stakeholders consultative forum held at the Abak Local Government Council Secretariat.

The meeting which was themed “Towards effective legislative agenda”, and convened by the Federal Lawmaker, had stakeholders from all Local Government Areas making up the Federal Constituency.

At the meeting, the Community leaders informed the Lawmaker of the constituency’s challenges and suggested possible ways of eradicating them; and also gave him tips on how to represent them effectively.

The Chairman on the occasion who doubles as the National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, represented by Prof. Isaiah Umanah, expressed satisfaction at the meeting convened by the Lawmaker, maintaining that he was the first Lawmaker to convene a meeting as such. He also expressed optimism that the meeting would yield great results in no time.

Also speaking was the special guest of honour, Mr. Moses Ekpo, who lauded the Lawmaker for the prompt action taken to arrest the challenges of his Constituency. He noted that the call was a right step in the right direction.

He charged people of the Constituency to unreservedly support the Lawmaker in his reformation bid, and gave the assurance of his support for the Lawmaker’s strides.

Committing their petitions to the Lawmaker for onward assessment and reaction, the three Local Government Chairmen expressed optimism that God who gave the Lawmaker the initiative to convene the meeting would grant him the grace and strength to see that the sufferings of his people are eradicated to the minimal level.

The event’s host and Chairman, Abak Local Government Area, Imoh Williams, drew the attention of the Federal Lawmaker to the erosion in Holy Family College, Oku Abak; Abak Bridge, Independence Hall and the Council Secretariat. He opined that such menace could lead to deadlier ends if not tackled with immediacy.

Receiving the documents from the three Local Government Chairmen, Elder Umanah restated his commitment to delivering effective and impactful representation to the Constituency. He assured that the documents would be submitted to the Federal House nextweek for prompt actions.

The Lawmaker also promised that life-touching programmes such as Skill Acquisition trainings, scholarship, business grants, professional trainings in onshore and offshore, and others, will be initiated to increase the life standard of the Constituents.
