The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere is said to have absented himself at the Party’s campaign meeting on Wednesday, March 9, in his campaign grounds.
Information has it that Obong Nsima Ekere had fixed the campaign meeting for 9am but was not seen and could not be reached as at 5pm as his mobile phones were switched off.
The reason for his sudden disappearance, according to our source, is not far from the arrest warrant issued him by a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State where he is accused of diverting N2.4bn meant for the payment of contractors who had borrowed money from financial institutions and individuals in completing the contracts awarded them by NDDC.
We gathered that the Police had visited the Ewet Housing residence of Obong Nsima Ekere at 1:53pm on Wednesday and met his wife, Mrs. EseAbasi Ekere, who lamented his disappearance. She is said to have complained that the husband left the house 18hours earlier and was yet to be reached.
Mrs. Ekere is also said to have hinted men of the Nigerian Police Force that the last call her husband received was from Senator Akpabio who informed him about the arrest warrant.
She maintained that her husband became desperate for power when Akpabio defected to the APC and that he has since been acting as one who is uncoordinated, adding that Akpabio should be held responsible if anything bad happens to her husband.
