14 Feared Dead in Jigawa Road Mishap

No fewer than 14 persons have been reported dead following the collision of two cars in the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Confirming the news, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Abdu Jinjiri, told newsmen that the accident, involving two Volkswagen cars, took place on Saturday, August 31.

Jinjiri noted that “one of the vehicles took off from Kano and was on its way to Gumel Local Government Area while the other took off from Gumel”.

“Eight people died at the scene of the incident after one of the vehicles was engulfed by fire”, he added.

“Nine others were taken to the Ringim General Hospital, where six were confirmed dead and the three others responding to treatment”, the PPRO said.

He charged motorists to drive carefully at all times, and not exceed the speed limits for the highways.
