“New Minimum Wage should be Backdated to April” – NLC President

President Ayuba Wabba of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has pressed for the backdating of the N30,000 new minimum wage to April 18, 2019, when it was approved.

The President said this during the 2019 Workers’ Day on Wednesday, April 1.

The union also rejected the intended subsidy removal by the federal Government, as well as Value-Added Tax (VAT).

Mr. Wabba expressed disappointment at the rate of unemployed people in the county, the deplorable condition of the power sector, and called on the Government to review the privatization exercise, and come up with the best approach to deal with the challenges of the power sector.
