Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly committee on Finance and Appropriations, Hon Usoro Akpanusoh has stated that the Committee’s quarterly assessment of Ministries, Departments and Agencies accounts will help in fast tracking development and implementation of projects in the state.
Hon. Akpanusoh added that their continuous interphase with the executive arm of the government which is the duty of the Legislature will ensure prompt release of funds to MDAs which will in turn, help to fast track the implementation of their respective projects in the interest of Akwa Ibom people.
“So far we have not had any issue of misappropriation of funds as the ministries are operating directly in line with the stipulated appropriations guidelines of the Assembly”, stated Akpanusoh after he appraised the Ministry of Commerce, Investment and Industry; Office of the Deputy Governor, Office of the Secretary to the State Government and the Ministry of Agriculture, on Tuesday May 14, at the Assembly’s Complex.
Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh also commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for running a people-oriented government, adding that the committee on Finance and Appropriations is also committed to working for the overall interest of the people in respect to monitoring and appraising expenditures of the government.
