A renowned Journalist in Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Idara Enobong, has charged youths of Ibeno Local Government Area to do away with conflicts and embrace peace.
Idara Enobong gave the charge while delivering a lecture themed “Peace and Conflict Resolution” at a one-day workshop organised by Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited in conjunction with ONE WITH NIGERIA – an ExxonMobil affiliate in Nigeria.
The event took place on Saturday, April 27 at Ukpenekang Hall, Ibeno local government area of Akwa Ibom State.
Idara Enobong made it known that investing in peace and conflict resolution strategies is what every development minded organisation or individual should not toy with. She added that conflict which means disagreement between two or more persons can result in killings, maiming, malice, destruction of properties or even deaths, if not properly managed.

She also defined peace as a situation where people are able to resolve their conflicts without violence thus, bringing about friendship among people, organisations and communities.
She went ahead to state that in order to resolve conflicts, parties involved must first understand the root of the conflict in view, brainstorm on possible solutions to it via dialogue, before inviting in an unbiased third party as the last resort to resolving the conflict.
At the end of the exercise, Youths of Ibeno Local Government Area expressed satisfaction over the lecture and willed to embrace peace among themselves.
Idara Enobong was the winner of the 2018 Akwa Ibom State Nigeria Union of Journalist Award for the Best Environmental Reporter (Eco Watch).
