In the build-up to the May 29 second-term inauguration of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, an inauguration lecture will hold on Tuesday, May 28, at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort by 4pm.
The lecture is aimed at preparing the minds of Akwaibomites towards their expectations in the second term Completion Agenda of the Governor.
Theme: “Akwa Ibom State in Socio-economic Renaissance: Paradigms and Opportunities”, the Inauguration lecture will have as its Special Guest of honour, the State Governor, while Prof. Effiong Johnson of the Faculty of Arts, University of Uyo, will be the Guest Speaker.
The State Commissioner for Economic Development, Labour and Manpower Planning, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson, confirmed that lecture was part of the events to usher in the Governor for a second term in office.
Barrister Sampson, who is the Chairman of the Lecture and Research Sub-committee of the 2019 Inauguration Planning Committee, disclosed that the Lecture will be co-chaired by Professor Enefiok Essien, Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo and Professor Eno Ibanga, Vice Chancellor of the Akwa Ibom State University, with a panel of eminent scholars as discussants.
The Commissioner noted that such intellectual engagements have become very imperative to position the people of the State on the same trajectory with the government to ensure the harnessing of optimum gains from the second phase of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s innovative leadership.
Sampson expressed confidence that Governor Udom Emmanuel has what it takes to drive the much desired economic development that will make Akwa Ibom State an example to look up to, and stressed the need for intellectual engagements that will make the people see themselves as part of the matrix of governance and own up the government.
Other events lined up to mark the inauguration are the Swearing-in Ceremony at the Nest of Champions, Uyo, on Wednesday, May 29 by 11am; Reception at Onna and an Inauguration Ball same day at Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo, by 8pm; State Thanksgiving at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo, on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019 by 10am.
