…commends Gov Udom for impactful measures
In a sympathetic move to alleviate pains and provide succor for his constituents during the 14 days lockdown in Akwa Ibom State, the member representing Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Ibesikpo Asutan Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Michael Enyong, today, donated the total sum of N10 million, hand sanitizers and nose masks to his constituents.
A breakdown of the N10 million donation, which makes up the 1st batch of paliatives disbursed by the federal lawmaker to Uyo, Uruan, Nsit Atai and Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government, has N5 million as cash gift and food items worth N5 million.
The Federal Lawmaker, who is adjudged by his people to possess a philantropic gene, also commenced distribution of the cash gifts and relief materials to constituents from Uyo Local Government Area at his Uyo Residence.

Presenting the cash gifts and relief materials, the Chairman, House Committee on Solid Minerals Development noted that the materials are essential necessities that will surely serve as lifelines for the constituents during the lockdown.
Ably represented by the Former Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Samuel Effanga, Enyong stressed that it is quite pathetic that the businesses and sources of livelihood of the people has been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic eating up the entire world at a fast pace.
He assured the constituents that he will continue to ensure that the period will at no time be a season of pains and hunger for them.
Enyong stressed that not less than 500 persons drawn from across the different wards in the four LGAs will be beneficiaries of the 1st batch of the paliatives.
The Uyo philanthropist commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for the impactful measures put in place to prevent and fight the pandemic in the State, adding that those steps are yielding positive results.
He promised to intensify the efforts of the State Government through financial and material aids to his people as proven through his donations.
He advised the people to maintain proper personal hygiene and ensure they maintain the much advised distancing and seek proper health services for anyone suspected to be showing traits of the virus.
The Uyo Senatorial District Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Okon Nsentip, thanked the federal lawmaker for the gesture, noting that such gestures have been exhibited by the lawmaker over times and have now become his culture.
In his remark, Hon. Chris Nyong, the Former Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, advised the people to take home the information received on COVID- 19 and practice same.
Also appreciating Enyong for his timely intervention, Chief Ekiko, an Elder Statesman in Uyo, said the federal lawmaker has always shown love, care and kindness towards his people.
He prayed God to bless him and grant him more grace to keep his good works.
The team will move over to the other three LGAs to continue the distribution.
