I’m taking after Gov. Udom Emmanuel – Uwemedimo Udo
…hands-over power substation, water project to Oku communities
The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo has stated that he is taking after the good steps of his Boss, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, in delivering the dividends of democracy to people of the State.
He said this on Tuesday, November 8, 2021, while handing-over a 500KVA power substation to Ikot Ebido Oku community and a mini water scheme to the Uyo Local Government shopping complex at Ikot Udoro Oku in Uyo, as part of events to mark his one year anniversary.
According to the Chairman, the purpose of the amenities provided was to add value to the lives of people at the grassroots and make them feel the impact of government in no little way. He noted that projects such as light, water, infrastructure, free medical care and other social amenities had been provided by his administration within and after his first hundred days in office, citing the construction of the Council’s administrative block and others as examples.
His assertion was supported by different personalities who were present in the occasion as they did not cease to thank the chairman immensely for his achievements within his first hundred days to one year in office.
Speaking at the event, the Council Secretary, Mr. Ubong Udofia lauded the Chairman on what he termed a resounding one year anniversary. He listed the projects accomplished within the chairman’s first hundred days in office as: completion of office complex at the council Secretariat commissioned by His Excellency, the Governor, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel; completion and commissioning of a water project at the Health center, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo; grading of community roads in all 4 clans in Uyo Local Government Area, amongst others.
Reacting to the presentation, the Village Head of Ikot Udoro Oku, Chief E. U. Ikpe thanked the Chairman for remembering them and requested that pipes should be channeled outside the shopping complex to allow members of the community benefit from the water installed in the business premises.
Obong Ini Ekong of Ikot Ebido Oku also appreciated the Dr. Udo for the provision of electricity in the community, noting that there had been no power supply for about 2 years before the Chairman came for their aid.
During his presentation, the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) commended the Chairman and his executives for the peaceful and cordial working relationship with the legislative arm, while asking other Local Government Chairpersons to borrow a leaf from him.
