Ikot Okubo Offot Gets New Village Head

Okubo Offot community in Uyo Local Government area has gotten a new Village Head. He  is Eteidung Elder Monday Utuk.

Crowned on Saturday, April 24, 2021 by the Clan Head of Offot Ukwa and Paramount Ruler of Uyo Local Government Area, Edidem Sylvanus Okon after being unanimously selected by the family heads of Offot, Utuk takes over from Late Elder Sunday Asian Akpan.

Charging the new traditional ruler on the need for integrity and transparency in his administration, the Paramount Ruler harped on the imperative of an all-inclusive government for the betterment of the community.

In his acceptance speech, Eteidung Utuk lauded the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for giving the traditional institution the leverage to elect its leaders without interfering. He further thanked the community leaders comprising of men, women and youths the trust reposed on him, while promising to distinguish himself in his leadership style. He also assured them of putting his hands on deck to ensure that criminal acts and other vices are reduced to the barest minimum in the area.

While reacting to the coronation, the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Media and an indigene of the community, Rev. Richard Peters,  expressed belief that the new Village Head would partner the state government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in carrying out his responsibilities effectively.

Also speaking, the youth leader of Offot, David Offiong as well as the women leader, Madam Dignity Silas, extolled the virtues of the newly coronated Village Head, noting him for being disciplined and having a good reputation.

They expressed optimism that he will discharge the requirements of his office effectively.
