Ikot Akpabin Joins League of Beneficiaries of Gov Emmanuel’s Roads Project
In his avowed determination to drive infrastructural development across the state, Governor Udom Emmanuel has taken another gigantic step in road construction by inaugurating a 2.1km road in Ikot Akpabin, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area
Addressing the benefitting community who came out in their number to appreciate him, Governor Emmanuel said that the road was a critical access that would boost economic activities in the area and other surrounding communities.
He expressed satisfaction at the quality of the project, noting that his administration is poised on following international best practices in delivering sustainable development projects and urged residents to constantly protect projects in their domain.
While reteirating his desire to fully accomplish his Completion Agenda, the Governor stated, ” When you look at our programmes for the state, we have promissed to develop both the rural and riverine communities during this administration and this is not the only one we have constructed”.
He added, “Very soon we would come back to Ibesikpo to Inaugurate another road project which is about 14km stretch”.
Setting the tone for the event, the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno Ibanga, noted that the road was hitherto, impassable, which prompted the state government’s intervention that resulted in the reason for the gathering.
Professor Ibanga lauded the Governor for always staying true to his promises to the people, extending the gratitude of the beneficiaries to the Governor.while thanking the project contractor for his commitment to complete the project.
In his goodwill message, the Paramount Ruler of Ibesikpo Asutan, HRM Edidem Clement Ekpenyong, said that the deplorable condition of the road had brought difficult situations to the people and expressed appreciation to the Governor for bringing their sufferings to an end by providing, not just quality road but with side drains to ensure durability.
Edidem Ekpenyong pledged the support of his subjects to the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration, promising to join hands to enable a smooth actualization or the Complerion Agenda.
On the many other projects sited in the Local Government Arrea by the state government, tthe Monach said, “We also want to say thank you, for setting up Garri Processing Factory at Nnung Udoe, as well as many other landmark projects that you have established in Ibesikpo Asutan. As a people, we are very grateful”.
Cultural dances spiced up the occasion prior to the cutting of tape and unveiling of the plaque to formally declare the road open for use.
The event had in attendance, the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, members of the State Executive Council, some members of the State House of Assembly, Traditional Rulers, Local Government Chairmen and other high profile personalities in the state among others.
