…Chairman’s Wife Stages Educational Summit, Empowers Students.
Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom has been rated high by prominent personalities in the State in terms of quality and sustainable education.
The accolades were given on Friday, October 4, during the Ibesikpo Asutan Educational Empowerment Summit (IBEES) for Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools in the area, organized by Hon. Mrs. Sarah Sylvester George, Wife of the Chairman of the Local Government Area.
The event which was staged at the Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Council Secretariat in Nung Udoe and themed: “Education, A Strategic Tool For The Development Of Our Children”, was organized to empower, encourage, support and promote the sustainability of quality education in the area.
In her remarks, Mrs. Sarah George stated that education should be considered a priority and necessity for future enhancement, to give children the opportunity to be educated, enlightened and informed on the principles of life for them to be able to compete with their contemporaries in the society.
Mrs. Sylvester applauded the wife of the state governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, for her passion towards ensuring and securing the rights and privileges of the Akwa Ibom child through the Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path Initiative (FEYRep) which she said has become the most encouraging and much-talked-about initiative on the lips of many.
Also speaking, the Ibesikpo Asutan Council Chairman, Hon. Sylvester George, lauded his wife for her initiative in putting the summit together, describing it as a great step to secure the academic rights of children, especially that of the girl child.
Goodwill messages were received from the Chairman of Itu Local Government Area, Barr. Etetim Onuk; Wife of the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Doris Nkang; Wife of the Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Uduak Effiong Essien; Wife of the Paramount Ruler of Ibesikpo Asutan and others.
Keynote presentations, Quiz Competitions, Cultural dance display and presentations of certificates of participation as well as educational materials to over hundreds of schools in Ibesikpo Local Government Area were major highlights of the event.
