Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has felicitated with the people of his state and Nigerians at large on the occasion of the 59th Anniversary of the country.
The Governor who made known his felicitations on arrival from an official engagement at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, called on Nigerians to keep faith with the country, while assuring that Nigeria will come out better from its present challenges.
He noted the abundant human and material resources in the country and advocated the utilisation of same to address the nation’s needs.
“I have never seen a country that is as blessed as Nigeria. In terms of human resources, we have a whole lot. Nigerians have the capacity so we need to harness and see what we can make out of the resources”, Gov. Emmanuel said.
The Governor who congratulated the leadership of Nigeria affirmed that there were many countries being torn apart by similar challenges facing Nigeria, and lauded the country’s government for stemming the tides when waves are high.
“I want to say a big congratulations to all of us. There are a lot of countries that did not go through the challenges we have gone through and they have been completely torn apart. So for us to go through all these challenges and survive, it means we can find our own solutions to our problems”, he stated.
He Nigerians not to lose hope in the country, adding that there is no nation that attained greatness without going through challenges, while expressing optimism that Nigeria will get out of its current challenges.
“people should learn to understand that there is no nation that attends greatness without going through the challenges that we’ve gone through. So let people not just lose hope so easily”, he advised.
The Governor who was emphatic on the need to love one another for the country to move forward, added that Nigerians are making names across the globe in terms of human resources and called for harnessing of the abundant talents for attainment of the Nigerian project towards getting the country out of the prevailing challenges.
“we need to love one another. If we love one another as a people, I think we will go a long way. Let’s also see how we can harness the talents that we have”, Governor Emmanuel admonished.
